2.  Groundwater Modelling of Lower Ponnaiyar Sub-Watershed, Tamilnadu, India

Objectives

  v  To characterize the unconfined aquifer formation of the study area.

v  To analyse the spatial and temporal distribution of groundwater quality in the  study area.

v  To delineate the areas of favourable zones for groundwater potential and recharge in the study area.

v  To categorize the stage of groundwater development in the study area.

v  To predict the groundwater flow and its direction both spatially and temporally in the study area.

v  To suggest suitable strategies for the conservation of groundwater resources

3. Spatial Analysis of Groundwater Quality for Tarangabadi Taluk, Nagappatinam District, Tamilnadu using GIS

 

Objectives

·   The present study has been undertaken to analyze the spatial variability of groundwater quality for Tarangabadi Taluk, Nagappatinam District, Tamilnadu state.

·   A Study on Physico-Chemical parameters of water quality in the salinity affected areas of Nagapattinam District are taken up to evaluate its suitability for drinking and irrigation purposes.

·    Ground water samples are to be collected from the salinity affected areas of Tarangambadi Taluk.

·  The water samples collected at 52 villages from Tarangambadi Taluk are analyzed for pH, Sodium, Total Hardness, TDS, Chloride, magnesium, Calcium, Sulphates, Bicarbonates, potassium, Dissolved Oxygen.

· Geographic Information System (GIS) is used for spatial and temporal mapping of water quality in the study area.

 4.   Evaluation of Cauvery River Water Quality at Nagappatinam District Using Remote Sensing And GIS

Objectives

·   To analyze the physico-chemical characteristics of surface and groundwater quality and compare Indian Standard Specifications for drinking and irrigation water and thus to arrive WQI.

·   To assess the spatial variation of surface and groundwater quality using GIS
